Paul Arthur Marsh, 85, of Crystal Lake, Owner of Paul Marsh Pharmacy

Visitation is on Monday, Jan. 28, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Skaja Bachmann Funeral Home in Crystal Lake and Tuesday, Jan. 29, from 9 a.m. until time of Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary in Algonquin.

 

Paul Arthur Marsh, 85, of Crystal Lake, died peacefully at home on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, after battling cancer.

He was born Sept. 26, 1927, in Fort Madison, Iowa, to Francis and Pauline Marsh.

Upon graduating from Burlington High School in 1947, he served a tour of duty in occupied Japan as a member of the U.S. Army. He received his B.S. degree in pharmacy from the University of Colorado in 1951, and served another three years in the Army as a pharmacist in Germany.

He married Donna Lau in 1953, and devoted his life to her, their children and the service of others.

He was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis for over 50 years and was an active proponent of social justice.

He moved to Crystal Lake in 1969 as proprietor of Paul Marsh Pharmacy and Ostomy Center, which he and Donna ran until his retirement in 1991.

He loved and was greatly loved by Donna, his beloved wife of 59 years: son Paul Marsh (Geneva, Ill.) and his wife Holly and their children, Victoria, Julia and Andrew Marsh; daughter Mary (Marsh) Lippman (La Jolla, CA), her husband Scott and their children Kyle, Elizabeth and Colin Lippman; son Greg Marsh (Houston, Texas); daughter Jane Marsh (Wonder Lake, Ill.), and her daughter Rachel Marsh.

He is also survived by his sister Dorothy (Marsh) Loerch, and sister-in-law Mary Marsh, and many nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, sister Frances, and brother Patrick.

His intelligence, kindness and wonderful sense of humor will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Visitation is on Monday, Jan. 28, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Skaja Bachmann Funeral Home, 7715 Route 14, Crystal Lake, IL 60012, and Tuesday, Jan. 29, from 9 a.m. until time of Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary, 111 Hubbard St., Algonquin, Ill., 60102.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his honor to the Franciscan Outreach Association, 1645 W. Le Moyne St, Chicago, IL 60622.
