James “Jim” P. McNally Jr., 76, of Lakewood

James “Jim” P. McNally Jr., 76, of the Village of Lakewood, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012, at Centegra Hospital in McHenry.

Jim was born on Oct. 10, 1935, to James P. Sr. and Della McNally in Chicago.

Jim graduated from St. Rita’s High School in Chicago, attended Southwestern College in Oklahoma City. He finished his education at Oklahoma City University.

In 1953, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he trained to become an air traffic controller. He married Barbara Polnaszek in Chicago on Oct. 15, 1960.

Jim was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from the Federal Aviation Administration in 1993. During his 43 years of service with the FAA, Jim was an air traffic controller, an air traffic control instructor, and was also in management before retiring in 1994.

He enjoyed bowling, playing golf, and softball. Jim loved watching his favorite sports teams - the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bears and Notre Dame Football games.

Most of all he loved watching his grandchildren in all of their activities. Jim always enjoyed the entertainment of his two dogs, Panda and Gibbs. Even through his illness, he kept his sense of humor.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; children, Linda (Jay) Wozniak, Sharon (fiancée Jay LeCoque) McNally, and James P. McNally III; grandchildren, Taylor Bevis, Lexie Bevis, Morgan, Megan and Jake Wozniak and Taylor McNally; and sister, Rita DeVito.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation is Friday, Aug. 17, from 4 to 9 p.m. at Home, 419 E. Rt. 176, Crystal Lake. Visitation continues Saturday, Aug. 18, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mass of the Resurrection is at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 451 W. Rt. 176, Crystal Lake.
