Helen Joy (Underwood) Ingram, 79, formerly of Crystal Lake

Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5 at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home in Crystal Lake. The service is at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, at the funeral home.

 

Helen Joy (Underwood) Ingram, 79, of Lee's Summit, Missouri, formerly of Crystal Lake and Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, died peacefully in her sleep with her husband at her side early on Sept. 29, 2012, at Village House in Lee's Summit.

Born July 29, 1933, in Paducah, Texas, she is predeceased by her mother, Marie Vivian (White) Underwood Bolt and step-father, Charles "Ruby" Bolt; her father, Claude Calvin Underwood; her brother, Charles Underwood; her sister, Phyllis (Underwood) Geders and niece, Cindy Geders; and her son, Gary Garth Ingram.

On her birthday, July 29, 1955, Helen was married to Merriwell "Mel" Ingram in Amarillo, Texas, where both were graduates of Amarillo High School. Helen was a homemaker who moved with her family seven times, crossing eleven states for Mel's transfers with Ford, for their retirement, and to be near her grandchildren.

She is remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and as a great cook and seamstress. Her kindness and gentle spirit touched her many friends and family, and she always remembered special days with a phone call or a greeting card.

Survivors include her husband, Merriwell "Mel" T. Ingram of Lee's Summit, MO; daughter, Brenda Kay Klockenga, and son-in-law, R. Kim Klockenga, of Lee's Summit, MO; brother, E. Leroy Bolt of Abilene, TX; grandsons, Christopher Stephen Klockenga and Daniel Scott Klockenga of Lee's Summit, MO; grandsons of the heart, Nicholas "Nick" George Klockenga of Chicago and Matthew "Matt" Brandon Klockenga and his wife, Ashley Klockenga of Los Fresnos, TX; and five nieces and eight nephews. 

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 5 at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Route 176, Crystal Lake. The service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, at the funeral home and will be officiated by Pastor Paul Carlson.

Interment will be next to her son, Gary Garth Ingram, at McHenry County Memorial Park in Woodstock.
