Frank T. Cloherty, 96, of Crystal Lake, Retired Police Officer

Memorial Mass will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1023 McHenry Ave., Crystal Lake. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to Mass.


Frank Thomas Cloherty, 96, of Crystal Lake, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Pepper Family Hospice in Barrington, surrounded by his loving family.

Frank was born June 30, 1916, in Chicago to Patrick and Sarah Cloherty.

He was a retired Chicago Police Captain, after 35 years of service.

Frank is survived by his wife of 17 years, Maria (nee Fajardo) Cloherty; his children, Karl (Linda) Cloherty, Gloria (Gilbert) Gustfson; step-children, Carlos A. Balanos, Viviana (Anibal) Restrepo, and Victor (Adriana) Bolanos; and grandchildren, Julie, Debbie, Johnny, Carl Jr., Alan, Jason, Luis, Juan, Catalina, Carlos, Viviana, Stephania, Carolina, and Sebastian.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy, in 1994.

Memorial Mass will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1023 McHenry Ave., Crystal Lake.  Visitation will be held for one hour prior to Mass.

Interment will be 10:30 am Sunday, Jan. 27, at Holy Apostle Cemetery, 5211 Bull Valley Road, McHenry.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, 405 Lake Zurich Road, Barrington IL 60010.

Arrangements were handled by Davenport Family Funeral Home in Crystal Lake.
