Eloise A. Childress, 83, former Music Teacher at Crystal Lake Schools

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 23 at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Route 176, Crystal Lake. The funeral service will follow at 4 p.m.

 

Eloise A. Childress, 83, of Palatine and formerly of Crystal Lake, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012.

She was born on Nov. 8, 1929, in East St. Louis, to George and Laura (Spicer) Barton.

Like her father, she was a people person who loved music and became a music teacher in the Crystal Lake public schools. She loved flying in airplanes and watching sports, especially the Bears. She was a well-loved teacher who was a close friend, a good listener, and an advisor to many.

She is survived by her children, Richard and Dave (Sue) Childress; her sister, Vivian (Richard) Waltmire; her niece, Nancy (Ron) Wendt; and her great-nephew, Adam Wendt; her cousins, Robert Bussen and Betty Galley; and many dear friends, including many retired teachers.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Edmund Childress.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 23 at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Route 176, Crystal Lake. The funeral service will follow at 4 p.m.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Husman Elementary School, 131 Paddock St., Crystal Lake, IL 60014.
