David J. Tietjen, 82, of Crystal Lake

David J. Tietjen, 82, of Crystal Lake, passed away Dec. 25, 2013, at Fair Oaks Health Care Center in Crystal Lake.

He was born on Sept. 29, 1931, in McHenry to Nikolaus and Anna (Klintworth) Tietjen.

He attended Prairie Grove and Immanuel Lutheran Schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He farmed in the Crystal Lake area most of his life. He also worked for Nunda Township Road District for many years. 

He is survived by his sister, Annie (John) Holsten and his brother, Siegfried (Dorothy) Tietjen, both of Crystal Lake; his niece, Shirley (Don) Freese of Chesterton, IN; nephews, Jim (JoAnn) Holsten of Crystal Lake, William (Carol) Tietjen and John Tietjen of McHenry, and Bob Tietjen of Crystal Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 29, at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Route 176, Crystal Lake.

Service and burial will be private.
