Charles R. "Chuck" Johnson, 91

Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 28, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1190 N. Hicks Rd., Palatine.

 

Charles R. "Chuck" Johnson, 91, of Fox River Grove, died Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffmans Estates.

Chuck was born Feb. 15, 1921, in Chicago.

The funeral service for Charles R. “Chuck” Johnson, 91, of Fox River Grove, will be held Saturday, July 28, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1190 N. Hicks Rd., Palatine, where there will be visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m.  Burial will be in Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.

There will also be a visitation from 3-8 p.m., Friday, July 27, at the Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Road), Barrington.

Chuck served in the US Navy during World War II and loved the Lord.  He was also the founder and owner of Johnson Shutter Company and Enterprise Specialty Manufacturing.  Chuck had previously been a salesman at Perkowitz Window Fashions. He retired in 1986. 

Chuck enjoyed woodworking and was a member of the Northshore Miniature Society and the North Suburban Carving Club. He was also a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Palatine.

Survivors include his children, daughter-in-law, Nancy of Barrington, Janice Jenkins of Fox River Grove, Keith (Kathy) of Wheeling, Christine (William) Rogers of Palatine, Paul (Cathie) of Evansville, Wis., and Peter (Maris) of Fox River Grove; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Andrea Lee), Jennifer (Roy) Gath, Julie, Tanya Jenkins, Sarah, Leana (Waseem) Salamah, Jamie Rogers, Carrie, and Eric Johnson; great-grandchildren, Audrianna, Annessa, Alijah Johnson, Amira and Reid Salamah;  sister-in-law, Carol Johnson of Elk Grove Village; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois (nee Mau), whom he married October 2, 1943, at Norwood Park Lutheran Church; son, Richard; granddaughter, Kim Jenkins; parents, Oscar and Ella (nee Paglusch); and siblings, George (Evie), Oscar, Elizabeth Simon, and Ray (Mary Ellen).

The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 28, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1190 N. Hicks Rd., Palatine, where there will be visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Windridge Memorial Park, Cary.

Visitation is from 3-8 p.m., Friday, July 27, at the Davenport Family Funeral Home, 149 W. Main St. (Lake-Cook Road), Barrington.
