Barbara J. Flaherty, 69

Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2012, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.

 

Barbara Flaherty, 69, of Crystal Lake, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, July 25, 2012.

Barb was born August 31, 1942 in Chicago to Stanley and Ethel (nee LaMarsh) Davidson.

Barb worked at McHenry County College, retiring in 2008 after 30 years of service. She will be remembered for her love of shopping; her trips to southwest Florida; baking scones and making raspberry jam; traveling; and giving gifts and love to her 17 grandchildren, who provided her so much enjoyment.

Barb is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, Gus, and her children:

Lori (Kurt) Beisner, of Crystal Lake.

Patti (Mark) Nieszel, of Crystal Lake.

Brian (Kelly) Flaherty, of Indianapolis.

Bev (Mike) Stotz, of Crystal Lake.

Sharon (Jim) Oeffling, of McHenry.

Barb is also survived by her grandchildren: Sarah and Mary Flaherty; Matt Leon, Shannon and John Beisner; Anthony and Erin Nieszel; Caitlin, Patrick, and Bridget Flaherty; Mick, Molly, and Maggie Stotz; Ryan, Rhyanna, Haley, and Lyla Oeffling.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Stanley.

Visitation also will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 29, at , 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave (Route 176), Crystal Lake;

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Funeral Mass on Monday, July 30, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave (Route 176), Crystal Lake.

Interment will follow at Crystal Lake Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to:  Hospice of Northeastern Illinois, 405 Lake Zurich Road, Barrington, IL 60010.

My condolences to the Flaherty family. Barb was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed.
