The Astronaut’s Wives: The American heroes of the space race are well-known: Alan Shepard, John Glenn, Neil Armstrong and more. But less well-known are a second set of heroes that are only now getting their due. This class will be a discussion of the wives of the early astronauts and how they coped with the perilous missions their husbands undertook as well as the sometimes unsolicited publicity they experienced. Come hear the untold story about the forgotten heroes who were married to our first space pioneers. Class takes place from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Monday, April 21 in Room E127.  Cost is $20 for members.  Use course ID:  NRA S13 004 when registering.

The Russians are Coming & Viva La France: A multimedia presentation explores how Russian Classical Music and French Classical music can be found in pop culture. Music written by five famous 19th century Russian composers:  Rimsky-Korsakov, Borodin, Prokofiev, Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky represent Russia’s contribution to the Romantic Era of classical music.  Their music can now be found in today’s pop culture.  French classical music abounds in pop culture. The program highlights music written by five French composers. Musical selections by Delibes, Saint-Saëns, Ravel, Dukas and Offenbach provide examples of where their melodies can be found in unexpected places. Class takes place from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Monday, April 28, in Room E127 at MCC.  Cost is $29 for members. Use course ID: NRA S10 004 when registering.
