Crystal Sewing Center Owner Retires

Crystal Sewing Center Owner Retires

For 32 years, the Crystal Sewing Boutique has been a mainstay independent business in the Crystal Lake Plaza on US Route 14.  Saturday, May 25th, Gary Anderson closes the doors on three decades as a successful independent retailer of sewing machines.

Early on, Anderson carried Singer brand and has been a strong Brother dealer.  Thousands of customers over the years had new life plugged into older sewing machine models.  Anderson took pride in repairing and rehabbing mom's or Aunt  Gertie's old machine, working like new.  He lamented that no one thought of doing a sewing machine restoration reality show.  "It would have been the hit reality show of the Sewing and Knitting Channel,"said a joking Anderson.

Anderson's plans are to retire near family in Texas and enjoy time with his grandchildren.
