Celebrate the Fall Bounty at the Harvest Tea at Colonel Palmer House

On Sunday, October 6, 2013, the Crystal Lake Park District will again present the very popular Harvest Tea at the Colonel Palmer House located at 660 E. Terra Cotta Ave in Crystal Lake. The historic home built in 1858 will be decorated in the bounty of the fall harvest. Guests will enjoy a full luncheon tea served by the costumed staff during the delightful afternoon.

Donna Finegan of DF Antiques in Palatine will present a fascinating program on 18th century ladies clothing. Donna’s love of early American history led to her collecting late 17th century and 18th century clothing and accessories. As Donna reveals, “People loved and cried, lived and died, worked and raised families in these pieces. Their clothing is not only a reflection of their status and wealth but also of their desire for beauty and an outlet for their artistic abilities.” Pieces from her collection will be on exhibit for visitors to enjoy.

A limited number of seats are available with tea times of 12:30 or 3:00 pm. Program fees:  Adults: $15 for residents or $23 for non-residents; Children 12 and under; $10 for residents and $15 non-residents. Advance registration is required. Register online at www.crystallakeparks.org or in person at the Crystal Lake Park District Administration Building at One East Crystal Lake Ave. For more information please contact Mary Ott, Facility Coordinator of the Colonel Palmer House at 815-477-5973 via email palmerhouse@crystallakeparks.org.
