Crystal Lake Park District Nature Center and Crystal Lake Anglers Team Up to Host Veteran Acres Family Fishing Derby

The Annual Veteran Acres Family Fishing Derby is scheduled for Saturday, April 13, 9-11:30 am at Veteran Acres Pond (*location may change depending on depth of pond). The pond is located in Veteran Acres Park off of Walkup Avenue in Crystal Lake. Admission is free, but please register in advance at the Crystal Lake Park District, www.crystallakeparks.org for program code #9602-1.  The fishing derby will be held rain or shine, so dress for the weather.

Program highlights include:

  •  Fishing poles, tackle and bait provided
  • Free fishing lessons and hands-on fishing demos 
  • Prizes 
  • Anyone over the age of 16 must have a current Illinois Fishing License 
  • Catch and Release only
