“I am proud to have Brian as a part of my team,” said Rutherford.  “We will work together to create a better business climate, lower the unemployment rate, and bring Illinois residents a financially stable state government.  I want to make this state a place that our families will, once again, proudly call home for many generations.”

Over the years, Sterling has been involved with several campaigns in Illinois and was a former Illinois House Republican staff member in the mid-1990s.

“I am honored to have been asked to serve as the communications director for the Dan Rutherford for Governor campaign,” said Sterling. “Treasurer Rutherford will be a tireless worker for private sector employment in our state. He’s going to protect our wallet. He will work to streamline state government. I look forward to helping him become the next governor of Illinois.

Rutherford is running with business lawyer Steve Kim as lieutenant governor.  The primary election is Tuesday, March 18, 2014.
