'Christmas at the Dole,' First Friday Tonight at Lakeside Legacy

Festive Christmas at the Dole and First Friday planned for tonight.

The Dole Mansion and Lakeside Legacy Arts Park will be filled with holiday spirit, music and cheer tonight.

The annual "Christmas at the Dole" celebration is planned from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight, Friday, Dec. 6, along with the First Friday art show and holiday performances at the Dole/ Lakeside, 401 Country Club Rd., Crystal Lake.

This month's featured art show exhibits are presented by the Lakes Region Watercolor Guild.

Food is being prepared and served by the MCC Introduction to Hospitality class and led by Chef Tina Drzal. The inclusion of the MCC students is a service learning partnership Lakeside Legacy has formed with this class and the culinary program at MCC.

At 7 p.m., Lakewood village president Erin Smith will conduct the ceremonial lighting of the Sage Gallery Christmas tree.

First Friday's free entertainment includes performances by The McHenry County Youth Orchestra,  the Berkshire Ballet of Summers Academy of Dance (performing vignettes from the nutcracker), Together Again, the Marian Central Madrigals and Martin Lopez Academy Four Strings Attached.

First Friday, held the first Friday of each month at Lakeside Legacy, is a free family friendly event where the public is welcome to enjoy the holidays spirit at the Dole Mansion.

"The many trees and mantles have been beautifully decorated by community volunteers," a Lakeside press release states.

Following the free art show and performances is the almost-sold out concert, "Songs of the Season" featuring singers Cassandra Vohs-Demann and John Hegner in "The Listening Room" at 8 pm.

Tickets are on sale now and going fast at www.lakesidelegacy.org.
