Does your girl want to be a Girl Scout? Here’s her chance! Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois is coming to Crystal Lake! Parents and potential Girl Scouts can learn all about the Girl Scout Leadership Experience where girls in grades K through 12 are engaged in discovering themselves, connecting with others and taking action to make the world a better place! Current Girl Scouts can learn about the latest Girl Scout Journey series and get a sneak peek at the NEW “Girl’s Guide to Girl Scouting”.
In Girl Scouts, girls develop leadership potential by participating in age-appropriate activities that help them discover values, skills and the world around them. Activities in science and technology, business and economic literacy, and outdoor and environmental awareness provide girls with opportunities for fun and friendship while fostering the development of leadership skills and self-esteem.

Were you ever a Girl Scout? Have you achieved a level of accomplishment in your chosen field – mother, entrepreneur, politician, community activist, chemist, writer, photographer, etc.? If you were ever a Girl Scout in any area of the country and now reside in northern Illinois, Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois (GSNI) wants to reconnect with you as soon as possible!

In honor of the Girl Scout 100th Anniversary in 2012, GSNI is actively seeking accomplished Girl Scout alumnae to recognize at several local events and help connect today’s aspiring girl leaders with women who have achieved their goals, thanks in part to Girl Scouts.
If you or someone you admire was ever a Girl Scout, please contact Ann-Marie at asoderstrom@girlscoutsni.org to share your unique Girl Scout story, be featured as a role model for today’s girls and possibly be recognized at a local 100th Anniversary event!
GSNI is also seeking the oldest, living Girl Scout to be honored at its’ centennial celebration on April 28, 2012, at the NIU Convocation Center. Recommendations may be sent to Rose Ellen at rmay@girlscoutsni.org.
An alumna is a woman who was a Girl Scout of any level—from Girl Scout Daisies through Ambassadors—and all former staff, Board members, volunteers—both men and women. All alumnae can register at www.alumnae.girlscouts.org to receive Girl Scouts of the USA Alumnae Association’s newsletter, information on GSNI’s happenings and invitations to the Girl Scout 100th Anniversary and Alumnae Events.
Nearly a year ago, GSNI launched its Alumnae Association inviting all Girl Scout alumnae to join, regardless of where or when they were Girl Scouts. More than 200 alumnae are currently registered in the GSNI Alumnae Association. As GSNI approaches the kick-off to the 100th Anniversary year in 2012, now is the time for alumnae to reconnect to Girl Scout and to each other! Since Girl Scout organization’s inception in 1912, more than 50 million American women have enjoyed Girl Scouting, and more than 53 percent of all women business owners are Girl Scout alumnae. As Girl Scout alumnae, these women know firsthand how transforming a positive program like Girl Scouts can be in girls’ lives.
