Weekend of Restoration

Take a Spring Vacation that Makes a Difference—

Get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and come to Glacial Park, one of the permier natural areas of the Chicago Region for a weekend you'll never forget! Take part in McHenry County Conservation District's award-winning "Weekend of Restoration," a program that allows you to help restore an ancient oak barrens landscape while learning about the history and ecology of our region.

Learn about the Illinois landscape before and after the ecological influences of Native American peoples and during European settlement. We will ask the questions of how much, in what manner, why they changed the landscape, what this means to ecologists today and how we go about ecological restoration? We will eat our meals together, relax around the campfire in the evening, and take time to reflect on our work and share readings we enjoy. Be part of a unique and exciting experience of recreation, learning and doing-a vacation that makes a difference!

Group size limited to 30, so register early: deadline April 18. Open to ages 16 through Adult.

Cost: $70/Adults-$50/Seniors (60+)-$35/Students-Register with a Friend Discount: receive $20 off second registration. (Fee includes meals). Participants also have the option to camp at Glacial Park for free, exclulsively for this event, (indoor restrooms and showers available; bring your own camping equipment).

For more information or to register, contact Tom Simpson at (815) 678-4532 X 8218 or tsimpson@mccdistrict.org.
