Jimmy Buffet inspired performance for adults later in the evening, complete
with island margaritas. The price of admission for the children’s educational

Tropixplosion
is a Caribbean show band that features steel drums, incredible percussion,
great vocals, Blue Man-style performance pieces, and more high-energy fun. In
essence, this band is the ultimate Island party. But much more than the
standard steel drum band, they play an amazing variety of music as well, such
as reggae classics and pop/rock party songs re-arranged to feel like the
Islands. New hits, classic rockers, and many other surprises are all performed
with an exotic twist! Siobhan Cottone, Lakeside’s Executive Director stated,
“We offer a large range of music genres at ‘the Listening Room’. This show not
only has an evening adult draw, but also has a great daytime experience for
local families.” She also said, “Our 2013 concerts were met with great
attendance and reviews, and we are excited to expand our 2014 offerings to
include new music styles and all ages programing.”

The
educational and interactive performance provides the history of the steel drum,
trumpet, congas, and more as well as a brief discussion of the
repurposed/recycled instruments on stage. In addition, different styles of
music are demonstrated - styles that will be performed range from calypso to
reggae to rock and more. Take the basic musical terms, history, and geography
and mix it together with a sizzling, interactive performance and you have
Tropixplosion!
