Lakeside Legacy Arts Presents “Swing Set” with the Slavins: Interactive Performance for Kids & Parents on 3/15/2014 at 2:30pm

On Saturday,
March 15th at 2:30pm, Sean and Karen Slavin will perform an interactive
performance for kids and parents in 'the Listening Room' at the Lakeside Legacy
Arts Park in Crystal Lake, IL. Dance, sway, move, and groove. Connect with your
child through music! The Slavins play children's favorites for the kids, which
makes it a rockin' good time for the entire family. Tickets are free for babies
(if you don't walk, you don't pay), $5.00 for kids, and $10.00 for parents.
This concert is designed for children from age 0 to age 10. To reserve your
tickets today, visit www.LakesideLegacy.org or call 815-455-8000. Siobhan
Cottone, Lakeside's Executive Director said, "We are so excited to have
the Slavins back in 'the Listening Room' to do interactive performances for
children! We had a great turn out for the first concert and we are excited to
watch family programming grow." During the first 'Swing Set' concert the
entire audience, young and old, were on their feet dancing and singing. Toddlers
were shaking maracas and kids were dancing in front of the stage!

A child's
connection to the arts is extremely beneficial to their learning process. The
arts are proven to enhance child development and exposing them to these types
of interactive programming would only yield positive results to a child. Roger
Reupert, House Manager of 'the Listening Room', stated, "Karen and Sean
Slavin both understand the importance of these types of children's art programs
and have built a show where kids are engaged and benefiting at the same time.
They are a high energy duo that connects very well to kids!" Together,
husband/wife duo Sean and Karen have had FM radio as well as various internet
radio stations playing their songs from 2013 released CD, Moodswings.  Karen
has been featured on Old Town School of Folk Music's CD, "Love You",
as well as teaching Wiggleworms classes at the famed music institution in
Chicago.  They have both performed on national television and radio,
doing ads, playing in various bands that allowed sharing of the stage with
Violent Femmes and Dean Bernardini of Chevelle, as well as recording projects
separately before joining forces.  The energy and joy they bring to
kids music is refreshing and exciting.  Come out, connect, de-stress,
reflect, be together.
