Julie
Ostrow and her Improv Friends will perform in ‘the Listening Room’ at the
Lakeside Legacy Arts Park in Crystal Lake, IL. This winning night of comedy
with the American Laughing Champion, Julie Ostrow, is scheduled for 7:30pm on
Friday, October 25th.  The

or http://www.lakesidelegacy.org/2013-schedule-3/.

Siobhan Cottone Lakeside’s Executive Director remarked, “Lakeside is excited to
bring new and exciting talent to 'the Listening Room'. It is a fabulous venue
for not only music, but all types preforming arts! A comedian will bring a fun
and interactive spin to the room.”

Ostrow is an
experienced comedian who performs stand-up comedy, improvisation, and laughter
yoga in the Chicago area in addition performing before worldwide organizations.
She also conducts improv workshops for actors and non-actors. Her training in
improvisational acting comes from The Second City in Chicago, while she also gains
other experience by being a certified laughter yoga leader. Lets not forget
that Ostrow has the honor of being America’s first ever laughing champion,
where she competed in many categories, such as: one on one laughter duels,
snorting laughter, etc., to earn the title, which makes her feel like a
“laughing princess”. Ostrow won this award in 2013 in San Diego, California at
the annual conference of the Association for Applied Therapeutic Humors. A
laughing championship is a public contest where people compete in a series of
laughter skills. The contests are usually judged on contagiousness, hilarity
and technique. They can be extremely entertaining. Since the 1st one in Montreal in 2011, there have been contests in
Japan, France, the UK, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Austria and California.

Ostrow’s
goal is to facilitate laughter in the lives of people while acting as a
catalyst for rediscovering and recreating joy, creativity, and childlike
playfulness. “We know audiences will be laughing off their seat from Ostrow’s
witty humor,” stated Roger Reupert ‘the Listening Room’ house manager when
asked about Ostrow’s comedy.
