Cary, Crystal Lake to Participate in National Night Out

Special evening designed to strengthen the bond between police officers and residents will be held today.

 

Cary and Crystal Lake will each celebrate National Night Out today to promote a strong partnership between the communities and their police departments.

Cary's 3rd Annual National Night Out will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Jaycee Park, behind Walgreens along Route 14, Cary. 

Residents are invited to come out to meet village police officers and other officials. National Night Out is designed to heighten crime an drug prevention awareness; generate support for local anti-crime organizations and send a message to criminals to let them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

The night's offerings include:

  • Family games
  • See a Cary Police Car, motorcycle and State Trooper Cruiser
  • Popcorn and sno cones

Crystal Lake

Crystal Lake's National Night Out will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. at Three Oaks Recreation Area. The celebration includes food and entertainment such as: 

  • Children's Sandcastle Building Competition
  • Free Face Painting
  • Police and Fire/Rescue Vehicles on Display
  • Police Canine Demonstration
  • Illinois Wisconsin Search and Rescue Dog Demonstration
  • Kid’s Games
  • Fire Truck Slide
  • Plenty of Food.

The Culver’s food special is a cheeseburger, fries, drink and a cup of custard for $2.50.

National Night Out is a nationwide event providing an opportunity for the community and local law enforcement to come together to promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships in our fight for a safer nation.
