Job Hunting Season Begins

Looking for a job can be tedious and frustrating. To help out, Patch has assembled a short list of leads on job fairs and resources that should be of interest to anyone looking for work. Whether you’re looking for a full-time position or part-time summer employment, here are some places to check out:

Elgin Community College Job Fair

When: Friday, April 8

Where: 1700 Spartan Dr., Elgin, IL

Time: 1-4 p.m.                           

ECC is hosting one of the largest job fairs in the area. More than 50 employers from various industries will be in attendance, including JP Morgan Chase, the Illinois Department of Human Services, NTN, several area hospitals, Eagle Ridge Resort and Spa and area restaurants. There will be job opportunities for a variety of professional levels and skill sets.

McDonald's National Hiring Day

When: Tuesday, April 19

McDonald's and its ubiquitous golden arches has named April 19 as National Hiring Day. On Tuesday, April 19, McDonald's will hire up to 50,000 employees nationwide. Management and crew member positions are available.

Available positions at 125 S. Randall Rd.: Crew, Management, Beverage Specialist, Hourly Management

Chicago Northwest Sales Career Fair

When: Monday, April 18

Where: Doubletree Hotel Chicago – Arlington Heights, 75 West Algonquin Rd., Arlington Heights, IL

Time: 1 p.m.

United Career Fairs is sponsoring The Chicago Northwest Sales Career Fair, a job fair designed specifically for sales professionals. Up to a dozen companies ranging from Fortune 500 Companies to local small business will be represented, all offering local sales positions.

Career Resources at McHenry County College

McHenry County College’s Career Services offers a variety of job resources that are available to the public, including a long term job journal and a 2011 Summer/Seasonal Job Journal, as well as an online job board. There are jobs in a variety of categories, including banking, culinary, customer service, education, engineering and parks maintenance. There are job opportunities for skilled professionals and students fresh out of high school.
