ComEd Gets Help to Restore Power

More than 350,000 ComEd customers remain without power as of 7 a.m. July 12.

ComEd has been working around the clock to restore power to Chicagoland residents who are still in the dark after the July 11 storms

As of 7 a.m. July 12, the company has restored power to nearly 400,000 customers, although 367,000 are still without electricity. In the north region, 205,000 customers are still waiting for the lights to be turned back on. At the peak of the outages, the north region had 298,000 customers without electricity.

Crystal Lake was still reporting over 11,000 residents without power.

A ComEd spokesperson said they are working diligently to get the problem fixed, but it could take days before everyone's power is restored. 

"We do have 900 crews in the field, and that includes assistance from other utility crews from Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan and southern Illinois," the spokesperson said.
