Cary Education Foundation Plans to Raise Funds for District 26

The Cary 26 Education Foundation is hosting a on April 9 to raise funds for . With  reductions in District 26, the need for funding has never been greater for Cary schools.

Last year's event sold out quickly and raised more than $11,000, according to a foundation press release. 

The Foundation has awarded over $58,000 in grants since 2004, and this event is one of the largest fundraisers of the year to support Cary elementary schools, a foundation press release said.

According to the foundation's website, in June 2004, a group of Cary community members took steps to make the brightest stars within reach for the students of District 26 and as a result of their efforts, the Cary 26 Education Foundation was formed. 

The Foundation, which is a separate entity from the District 26 Board of Education, relies entirely on contributions to support enrichment programs that are not financed with tax dollars.

The event begins at 7 p.m. April 9, located at the Trout Valley Barn in Cary.
