Published in the last few days on www.nwherald.com - we thought we would share them with Patch readers as well. To the Editor:

I am a homeowner and a small business owner in Cary, and I am glad to see we have common sense candidates like Christopher Christensen and Josh Howell running for the District 26 School Board.

Like all residents of Cary, I want a strong, well performing school district, but at the same time, I am dismayed to read and learn there are a slate of candidates who believe Cary is long overdue for a property tax increase.

I have had to trim my personal budget as well as my business budget and want candidates that are fiscally responsible and not whose only solution is to simply to raise taxes.

This is why I urge the taxpayers of Cary to vote for Christopher Christensen and Josh Howell.

To the Editor:

As a parent of students in Cary School District 26 and someone who has been actively involved in Three Oaks, Prairie Hill and now CJHS, I urge District 26 voters to select Chris Christensen and Josh Howell on April 9 for school board.

Chris and Josh have been active in the district in a positive manner. I've watched them work effectively with teachers, administrators and parents. They understand providing a quality education for our students is a top priority, but balance that understanding with the pressure taxpayers are under. Chris and Josh know what it will take to build on the recent progress of the district without jeopardizing its financial future.

It took several years to get District 26 out of a financial hole, but with the wrong board members, it will only take one year to put us back into a financial mess. Please vote for Christensen and Howell.

To the Editor:

Over the past eight years, I’ve authored many good governance policies and resolutions that were unanimously approved by the Cary District 26 School Board...For District 26 school board, I recommend Myers, Jette, Howell and Christensen.

To the Editor:

The Cary School District 26 community has been through a lot over the past eight years: decimated finances, a threatened state takeover, program cuts, large class sizes and more. Finally, after three consecutive balanced budgets, we are now turning the corner.

To continue on this path, I ask that you vote for Josh Howell, Christopher Christensen, Floyd Myers and Julie Jette on April 9. Current board members Myers and Jette will continue guiding the district back while maintaining balanced budgets. I’ve personally worked with Christensen and Howell on several school board committees. Together, they bring a welcome mix of knowledge and skills in technology and communication.  They are also committed to balanced budgets.

I’m optimistic about the future of District 26 and know Josh Howell, Chris Christensen, Floyd Myers and Julie Jette are best suited to lead the district forward.

To the Editor:

I am writing to ask the residents of Cary to vote for my husband, Christopher Christensen, who is running for the District 26 school board.

As a mother of a third-grader and due to the results of previous deficit spending, I have seen firsthand how difficult the cuts to art, music and physical education have been.

We need a person such as my husband to ensure we are never faced with those decisions again. He is vice president of a local business and well versed on how difficult the state of Illinois makes it to operate. He was also a recent recipient of the Northwest Herald Business Journal’s Best Under 40 award. He is a proven leader, effective communicator and well versed and knowledgeable of current and future problems that will face District 26.

I thank you in advance for your vote.

6.  The Daily Herald also endorses Howell and Christensen:

Said the Daily Herald on March 18th, 2013,  “The board needs an effective mix of fresh ideas and experience, though, especially considering the still-sensitive state of the district, and that mix is best represented by Howell, Christensen...”
