If you're a Fahrvergnugen fan, or just love your bug, then speed over to the Volkswagen Fest Car Show and Swap Meet on Sunday, Sept. 16, at Anderson Motors in Crystal Lake.
The fest is from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Anderson, 360 Route 31, Crystal Lake.
The annual show is presented by Northeast Illinois Volkswagen Association (NIVA). The event is open to all Volkswagens and VW-powered vehicles:
- Air cooled and water cooled classes.
- Beetle, old and new.
- Bus, old and new
- Karmann Ghia
- Fox, Golf, Rabbit, Jetta, Corrado, Schirocco, Dasher
- VW-powered vehicles like kit cars, dune buggies and trikes
The event is the largest VW show in the area, according to NIVA.
Judges will evaluate participants and award multiple trophies per class. In addition to the VWs, there'll be music, dash plaques, food vendors and T-shirt sales.
Registration for participants is from 9 a.m. until noon. Trophies will be awarded between 2 and 3 pm. The swap meet starts as early as 7 a.m. so guests should arrive arrive early.
The festival is free to spectators and swap meet shoppers; $10 fee for car show registrants, and $25 fee for swap meet sellers.
