Shoppers Brave the Cold on Black Friday Eve

Freezing temperatures couldn't keep these residents from camping out.

A large crowd of braved the freezing temperatures Thanksgiving night to grab a good spot in line before the stores opened.

Joe Klawitter was first in line at Best Buy. Looking for video games and cell phones, the Cary resident had his tent set up by 6:15 pm, only about 11 hours before the store opened.

"This isn't the first time I've been out here," Klawitter said, "but it's definitely the coldest."

Tom Weaver was only a few back from the front of the line at Toys R Us, which opened at 9 pm Thursday night.

"I'm looking for toys for my kids," said the Twin Lakes, Wisconsin resident.

Most of the people standing in line at both Toys R Us and Best Buy were waiting for their chance to grab laptops, video games and cell phones at cheap prices when the doors opened for Black Friday shopping.
