'Real Cake' Now Featured at Conscious Cup

Crystal Lake coffee shop is now housing a little pastry shop.

Pastries enjoyed throughout the area are now being housed at a favorite coffee shop.

Real Cake, Inc. has now opened inside . Real Cake owner Wendy DeBord brings over 25 years of experience as a pastry chef and 10 years as a fine artist.

DeBord's cupcakes, bars, cinnamon rolls, macaroons (gluten free), shortbreads, cannoli and more are on display at Conscious Cup, 5005 Northwest Hwy. in Crystal Lake.

And don't expect her treats to taste the same as the items you might buy at a grocery store.

"Everything is real and baked from scratch — no mixes, nothing frozen — with real butter and flavors like real vanilla beans and roasted strawberries," DeBord said.

And if her pastries taste familiar, you might have had them before. DeBord previously worked at the Crystal Lake Country Club and has catered pastries for private parties.
