Talk about a possible "peaker" plant in Oakwood Hills has raised concerns among residents of the small village.

The McHenry County Blog is reporting that a lot adjacent to Oakwood Hills Village Hall is being considered for a future gas turbine electric generating plant.

Village Hall is located at 3020 North Park Dr., (at the corner of Valley View Drive), and is next to ComEd's Silver Lakes substation and high power lines. The site is already zoned for industrial and manufacturing, McHenry County Blog reports.

"This is a really big deal," a Patch reader said in an e-mail. "Not just the fact that it would be a huge eyesore, but that it will draw huge amounts of water out of a source that is precious already."
