New Trampoline Business to Open in Crystal Lake

Developers are looking to open an indoor trampoline amusement park in the Crystal Court Shopping Center in .

Knightsbridge Commercial Development last week presented plans for the 25,000-square-foot trampoline center to members of the Planning and Zoning Commission.

The indoor facility would be built at 5593 Route 14 in the former location. The facility would occupy four tennant spaces between Game Stop and , said city planner Latika Bhide.     

Filled with custom-made trampolines, the amusement park would feature a variety of trampoline activities: basketball, dodge ball, free style open jump, sports training and fitness training classes, according to the developers' plans.

The center would serve a limited food menu and operate seven days per week. KCD representatives said the park would employ between 12 to 14 people. 

The trampoline facility would cater to birthday parties and special gatherings, as well as individuals. KCD is seeking a special-use permit from the city to open the trampoline business.

After reviewing the developers' plans, the Planning and Zoning Commission voted to recommend the city council approve the special-use request at its next meeting Sept. 18.

The commission made its recommendation contingent upon developer following several staff recommendations. One recommendation would be for the developer to repair and replace any landscaping in front of the units, and to seek additional approval in the future should the owners ever wish to expand. 

Crystal Court Shopping Center is a 33-acre retail development formerly anchored by Walmart. The building earmarked for the trampoline park was built in the early 1990s.
