McHenry Co. Tavern Makes List of Best Illinois Bars Not in Chicago

Do you think your town has the absolute best bar in Illinois? 

Thrillist.com put together a list of the top 12 best bars in the state that are not in Chicago — and there is one McHenry County watering hole that made it. 

Liquid Blues, located at 126 N. Benton St. in Woodstock, is referred to by Thrillist as an "psychedelic dive bar" and is lauded for its offbeat touches like lava lamps and beaded curtains. 

Thrillist said great live entertainment and an excellent Friday fish fry also helped to get Liquid Blues on the list. But what really makes Liquid Blues stand out "is just how much fun it is," according to Thrillist. 

Other suburban bars to make Thrillist.com's list include: Durty Nellie's in Palatine, The Foundry in Aurora, Firkin in Libertyville, Palmar Place in LaGrange, Meier's Tavern in Glenview and Rock Island Public House in Blue Island.
