Wild Orchid Thai Bistro prepared Thai cuisine, serving popular dishes such as Thai curry, Evil princess, and salmon chu-chee. The food, hot with a variety of spices, earned a place among the three finalists in the Patch Chowdown Showdown for Thai cuisine.

Born in Thailand, Chutivanich came to the United States in 1972, and said she started in the restaurant business by working at Bankok Rice located on Devon Avenue in Chicago.

The restauranteur said she is closing the business, rather than selling, as the building owner plans to rent the store space.

In preparing to close, Chutivanich is selling some of Wild Orchid's plates, bowls, serving pieces and a few decorations. One antique planter for sale is adorned with pieces of pearl, she said.

Those people wanting to keep a little bit of the Thai food restaurant can purchase the serving pieces by visiting the restaurant.
