That's the approximate closing date for Dominick's grocery stores in Lake in the Hills, Crystal Lake and Fox River Grove.
All unsold Dominick's stores will close “on or about” Dec. 28, employees were told in a memo published by Crain’s Chicago Business.
“The closures are expected to be permanent,” according to the memo, which says the closing date will also be Dominick’s employees’ last day on the job.
Safeway, the chain’s parent company, announced earlier this month plans to close all 72 stores in the Chicago market. Dominick's employs about 6,600 people in the Chicago area.
Four of those stores have been purchased by New Albertsons, which owns the Jewel-Osco chain, the Chicago Tribune reported. The other 68 stores remain unsold, according to Crain’s.
