Chris' Coach House in Cary Appears Closed for Business

Longtime fixture on Cary's restaurant scene appears to have closed for business.

Chris’ Coach House near Cary appears to have closed for business, whether it is temporary or permanent is not known.

The restaurant at 6414 Hilly Way Road is located in a big red barn near Oakwood Hills, (by the intersection of Crystal Lake and Silver Lake roads) and served up barbecue, steak and seafood for the past 30 years.

A Patch reader recently commented on the Crystal Lake-Cary Patch Facebook page:

"Does anyone know what happened to Chris' Coach house in Cary? Just didn't open one day, answering machine is still on, and the specials are still on the board outside."

The Northwest Herald yesterday reported a large stack of newspapers and a pumpkin sat outside the restaurant's entrance Wednesday. The restaurant was started in 1981 by Chris Chigas, who died in 2006, but his family continued to run the business, the story said.

In August 2012 the property was sold to Saranta LCC, and listed several months later as owned by Dino and Anna Sarantopoulos, the Herald reports. But Roula Chigas filed a mortgage foreclosure suit against Saranta LCC and Agoria Inc. on Nov. 5, the Herald story stated.

RealtyTrac shows the property sold for $321,250. The property is currently listed as "Off the market" on the website.
