Breakers Restaurant Re-Opens

Restaurant on Route 14 has been closed since Feb. 2, when a car crashed into the kitchen.

One of Crystal Lake's favorite dinning spots is up and cooking again.

The Breakers Restaurant re-opened Friday after three months of repair work.

The restaurant, located at 7728 Route 14 on the northwest side of Crystal Lake, closed on Feb. 2, when a car crashed into the building where the kitchen is located.

A spokesperson for Breakers said the repairs are completed and the restaurant was scheduled to open at 4 p.m. May 3. 

The Breakers has been operating since 1949.

It has been recognized as one of Illinois' best restaurants and has won several local diner's awards. Its "tiki" bar decor adds to the dining experience. The restaurant is known for its tropical drinks and delicious Chinese food.
