Angelo's Restaurant in Woodstock Changes Ownership

Changes made during the filming of "Restaurant Impossible" haven't helped Angelo's in the long run. A new owner plans to bring the restaurant back to its original state.

Angelo's Restaurant, 117 E. Van Buren St., on the Woodstock Square has been sold, and the new owner plans to reverse remodeling changes made during the filming of the Food Network show, "Restaurant Impossible" last April, the Northwest Herald is reports.

Peter Mourelatos and Dennis Paloumbis opened the diner nearly four decades ago and have sold the business to George Kanakaris. Kanakaris opened Papa G's in Huntley about 25 years ago. He will close Angelo's for about 10 days in early January, renovate and reopen it as Papa G's, the Herald reports.

Kanakaris plans to reinstall booths and the original counter that were removed during the $10,000 worth of "Restaurant Impossible" renovations. Some of those changes didn't go over well with customers, the Herald story states.
