Cary Park District To Host 'In the Parks'

Start the new year with by taking a class or joining a club at the Cary Park District.

Reading Wonders

Get your child excited about reading books.

Each week a different book will be shared followed by a craft and game based around the theme of the story. Children will be engaged as they explore the wonders of reading.

This class is for children ages 3 – 4 years and meets from 11 to 11:45 a.m. on Fridays, Jan. 20 – Feb. 10 at the Community Center.

Registration is $29 (n/r $44).

Seasonal Sensations

Celebrate the winter season with crafts, stories, and other activities. Children ages 3 – 5 years may socialize and gain independence in this one day class.

Seasonal Sensations will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at the Community Center.

Registration is $10 (n/r $15).

 

Homework Club

Does your child need some extra help with a homework assignment or help studying for an upcoming test? A patient, professional, and certified teacher will work with your child in a group setting to tackle those challenging assignments or studying for upcoming quizzes or tests.

Homework Club is for children ages 6 – 14 years and meets from 4 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at the Community Center.

Registration is $10/$15.

 

Creative Cooking

Experience the joy of cooking delicious soups and stews that will warm your tummy. Children will become more helpful and confident in the kitchen by learning how to read a recipe, measuring and mixing techniques, and how to keep the preparation and cooking space clean. Keep all the goodies you make and the recipes to use in your own kitchens.

Creative Cooking meets from 4:45 p.m. to 5:45 pm on Tuesday, Jan. 24 (ages 6 – 8 years) and 6:05 p.m. to 7:05 pm (ages 9 – 11 years) at the Community Center.

Registration is $11/$17.

 

Magic Club

Amaze friends, family, and teachers with magic tricks using coins, cards, ropes, and more. Children will become more confidents as speaking and presentation skills will be taught. A graduation performance and certificate presentation will conclude the session. All supplies included.

Magic Club is for children ages 7 – 10 years and meets from 4:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Jan. 19 to Feb. 16 at the Community Center.

Registration is $39 (n/r $57).

 

Sewing 101

Learn to sew on a sewing machine and make a pillow for your bedroom. If there is time you may bring your old jeans, shirts, and other fabrics to expand your sewing creativity.

This class is for children ages 12 years and older and meets from 6:15 p.m. to  7:15 p.m. on Thursdays, Jan. 19 to Feb. 9 at the Community Center.

Registration is $45 (n/r $68).

 

 

Dramatic Debut

Let your imagination run wild with the world of drama. Through story playing and puppet plays, children will develop self-awareness, self-confidence, creativity, and group cooperation.

This program is for children ages 3 – 4 years and meets from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. on Mondays, Jan. 23 to Feb. 13  at the Community Center.

Registration is $32 (n/r $48).
