Georgetown University Bound Caitlin Brauneis Leads Prairie Ridge to Volleyball Victory

Prairie Ridge girls volleyball wins opening night match at Lake Zurich

It was only the first match of the season for the Wolves on Tuesday night in Lake Zurich. But Stefanie Otto's team has some potential. Sure they will battle some tough squads in the Fox Valley Conference, but there is some talent on this year's Wolves' team.

For one, Brauneis can hit and set for the Wolves. On Tuesday, she had 10 kills in a very close match. Prairie Ridge prevailed 23-25, 25-21, 25-23.

Brauneis told me she is headed to Georgetown University. Of course I lived in Georgetown in the late 70s and early 80s. What a great place to go to school.

The Wolves also have a talented libero in fellow senior Paige Dacanay. She had 10 digs on the night. In addition there is a 6-foot-3 junior middle hitter, Maddie Drain, who bears watching.  Also playing well on this night were Mackenzi Humm, a 5-11 senior, Taylor Otto, a 5-8 junior and Kennedy McNeil, a 5-10 outside hitter
