Service League of Crystal Lake Hosts 39th Annual House Walk

This year's Service League Housewalk features "some homes old" and "some homes new."

It's that time of year again - the time when the Service League of Crystal Lake allows you to peek inside some of the area's most beautiful homes.

The league is hosting its 39th Annual Housewalk, "A Walk Through History," from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and  5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27.

Guests are invited to "Remember the Past, Love the Present, and Look to the Future" as they view four specially selected homes for this year's walk. Tickets are $25 in advance, and can be bought at area stores. Tickets are $30 on the day of the event.

Tickets can be purchased at Around the Clock Restaurant & Bakery, Countryside Flower Shop, Dalzell & Co., Twisted Stem Floral, Wickham Interiors, Yours and Meyn Simply Designed, and Mueller Interiors in Crystal Lake.

Also, Service League members have tickets for sale, or tickets can be purchased online at: www.slcrystallake.org.

In conjunction with the Housewalk, raffle tickets will be sold to win a beautiful Honora pearl necklace and earring set donated by Dalzell Jewelers, as well as a cash prize.

Last year, the Service League Housewalk raised more than $25,000, organizers say. The organization is striving to surpass that amount this year.
The Service League has been in existence since 1925, and operates with less than 40 members.

Many generous sponsors, including local businesses and restaurants, offer discounts to be used when attendees purchase housewalk tickets. The Service League has widespread community support, in addition to the generosity of the homeowners who open their homes for this event, organizers say.

The annual event is a huge undertaking and is the Service League's biggest fundraiser of the year. All money raised from the walk - and all Service League events - go directly back in to the Crystal Lake community in the form of educational scholarships and immediate aid for families in need.
