Red Carpet Rolled Out for Algonquin Filmmaker at Thursday Premiere

The movie premiere of "A Shallow Grave" will take place at 8 p.m. Thursday at Cinema 12 in Carpentersville.

A Carpentersville theater will roll out the red carpet for an Algonquin filmmaker and several other area flim talent for a local movie premiere of "A Shallow Grave."

Matt Sommerfield of Algonquin wrote, directed and produced the film, which chronicles the story of a young man, Jack White (who is played by Sommerfield), who finds out his father, whom he thought had died, is still alive, according to a press release from Sleeping Cloud Pictures. 

"While being tracked by a hitman, White stops at nothing to find out about the truth of his father," according to the press release. 

The movie premiere will start at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11 at Classic Cinemas Cinema 12, 100 Besinger Drive in Carpentersville. At 7:30 p.m., the cast will walk the red carpet prior to the movie showing.  

Admission to the movie is $8 per person.Advance tickets are available online or can be bought at the theater's box office. 

Sommerfield is not the only local actor and contributor to the film. 

“Having grown up as an actor in this area, I am blessed to be connected to an excellent network of local actors and artists,” said Sommerfield in the press release. “The goal of this film was to create a safe place for actors and artists who were looking to express their creativity."

Others involved include: J.E. Albright of Roselle who developed the film's story and Robb Davidson of Wheaton, direstory of photography.

There are several actors who star in the film from McHenry County, including Ben Piershale (who plays Matthew Donovan in the movie), Rachel McGinley (who plays Annabel), Miriam NaponelliMasey (who plays Emma), Randy Peterkort (who plays Wicks), Marty McGinley (who plays Mitchell) and Naomi Rogers (who plays Margaret).
