It's First Friday at Lakeside Legacy Arts Park

First Friday evening offers art, music and short-film presentation.

 

Today is "First Friday" at in Crystal Lake.

First Friday is a monthly artistic event held from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the , 401 Country Club Rd.

The special evenings are free, family friendly and open to the general public, said Lakeside Advancement Coordinator Erin McElroy.

In addition to three art exhibits on display, today's First Friday features live musical entertainment, tasty treats and a cash bar for guests 21-years-old and up.

Artist Angela Swan

Local artist Angela Swan will exhibit her photography and sculpture. The Sage Gallery features Swan's fine art photography and her JumpShots! Swan's 3-D sculpture exhibit, which has multiple pieces, is on display at the Lakeside throughout the month of September. 

Swan also will be cooking homemade bread in the Lakeside's Culinary studio. Swan uses organic and other great products. She will have a dipping bar and delicious desserts as well.

Watercolor and Oil Paintings

The Dole Gallery Features an on-loan private collection of watercolors and oils from the late 1890’s to the 1940’s.

Musical Entertainment

Musical entertainment is sponsored by the McHenry County Heart Association in conjunction wtih its Heart Walk on Saturday, Sept. 8. The walk starts and finishes at the Dole Mansion in Crystal Lake.

Frances Mai-Ling will play the piano in the Sage Gallery, and the American Heart Association will host a small silent auction benefitting the Heart Walk.

Short-Film Presentation by Jordan Oglesby

A short film by DePaul student Jordan Oglesby will be shown. Entitled "Moon Attic," Oglesby's film was recognized by the Chicago International REEL Shorts Film Festival and Show Me Justice Film Festival. It was also nominated for best cinematography at DePaul Premier Film Festival. 

First Fridays are supported by , and the Willow Springs Foundation.
