First Friday Gallery Exhibit

Lakeside Legacy Arts Park welcomes the community to the August 3rd First Friday gallery event from 5pm to 7:30pm where students from Creative Artistry Fine Arts School and oil painter Danuta Loane will be exhibiting. Creative Artistry is the art school located behind Lakeside with classes ranging from ages four to adult. “Multiple mediums and art images are displayed that represent children’s creative potential and art imagery found only through the eyes of a child” claims Amber Larsen, the Director of Creative Artistry and former Crystal Lake District 47 art instructor. Amber’s “…goal is to provide exceptional quality art instruction to children and adults.” Amber will be doing face painting as well as hosting an art activity table. Kids can also enjoy coloring pages featuring rooms of the historic Dole mansion. Danuta Loane is an oil painter exhibiting her six pieces depicting the immigration of her family from Poland in the 1960’s. All of her work is based off of photographs that will be displayed with the art along with a short description. 4 Strings Attached will be the entertainment of the night directed by Martin Lopez as well as jazz pianist Scott Tarson. This month’s First Friday is also holding a gallery installation on the second floor in the historic bedroom of Mr. and Mrs. Dole. While exploring the history of the Dole, you will be able to view the “Make a Wish” installation, featuring 1,000 origami cranes created by Patricia Bell. Ancient Japanese legend promises that one who creates 1000 origami cranes is granted one wish. First Friday gallery events are free and family-friendly featuring live music, art, Dole Mansion tours, cash bar and light refreshments. First Friday’s are supported by Crystal Lake Reprographics as well as Piano Trends and the Willow Springs Foundation.
