Community Clean Up Day

8:00a.m. – 1:00pm Community Clean Up Day, McCormick Park/Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce, 427 W. Virginia St., Crystal Lake. The Chamber and the Crystal Lake Park District organize this free event every April, in conjunction with Earth Day. It is held just outside the Chamber of Commerce's office, in McCormick Park - off Route 14 at the corner of King St. and Pierson – regardless of the weather!  Community Clean Up Day is a family friendly event; there is no minimum age restriction, if accompanied by a parent.  Pre-registration is not required.

Volunteers meet at 8:30 in the morning at the Chamber, enjoy a quick breakfast, then are given their tools for the day: gloves and garbage bags. Groups are dispatched throughout Crystal Lake and Lakewood to clean up the garbage left behind from winter. The trash collection and recycling efforts wrap up by 11:30 am, and then all the volunteers are treated to a hot lunch.
