Snow Coming This Afternoon, Tonight

A late-season snowfall is expected to hit the area Monday afternoon and continue into the evening hours with only minor accumulations expected, according to the National Weather Service.

"Some slushy accumulations may occur on roadway and could catch motorists off guard given the late season nature," according to the National Weather Service hazardous outlook advisory summary.

Up to one inch of snow is possible in some areas of the suburbs. Temperatures were in the 30s and lower 40s for much of the area Monday, which was a a steep drop from this past weekend when parts of the Chicago area saw temps hit 80.
