Salvation Army Hosts Shave-a-Thon for Childhood Cancer Charity

The St. Baldrick's Shave-a-Thon, organized by the Crystal Lake Kiwanis Club, was held on Friday, March 11th.

Area residents heads were shaved in an effort to raise funds for St. Baldrick's Foundation, a charity dedicated to funding research in the hopes of finding a cure for childhood cancer.

The "Shave-a-Thon" was hosted by the Salvation Army and organized by Crystal Lake Kiwanis Club. President of the Kiwanis Club, Jo Anne Ollerenshaw said, "Our goal this year is to raise $25,000."

There were volunteers from Kiwanis, MCC and local salons helping out with the event on Friday. Joe Cicero from Star 105.5 was one of 65 shavess who signed up to support the cause.
