Saints Peter and Paul Celebrating 100th Anniversary
Cary and Fox River Grove Catholics are getting ready for galas, picnics and "a taste" this summer.
Celebrations for the 100th anniversary of Cary's start in June.
Galas, picnics and "A Taste of Saints Peter and Paul" are planned; a DVD on the parish’s history is being prepared and will be available to parishioners.
The church, however, still is looking for other ideas on how to celebrate, said the Rev. Stephen St. Jules, pastor.

“We’re here to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus,” St. Jules said, “and to incorporate people into the life of Christ through baptisms and other sacraments.”
History of Saints Peter and Paul
In the wintertime of 1910, a small group of Cary-area Catholics began searching for new digs. The empty factory where they worshiped was too cold, according to Saints Peter and Paul’s website.
The first Church was built where the Marathon service station now sits on U.S. Highway 14, St. Jules said.
The cornerstone to the first church building was set in 1912. You can find it set in brick inside the waiting area at the church's current location at 410 N. First St., Cary.
Saints Peter and Paul once was listed in the Guinness Book of Records for having the most panes of glass. Colored glass is used as a motif in the church's brickwork.
