Patrons Tell Why They Belong at Library

The Crystal Lake Public Library sponsored a contest for National Library Week.

Why do you belong at the library?

That's the question the was asking their patrons in recognition of National Library Week.

The bulletin boards in the library are filled with responses, ranging from kids saying they loved their library instructor to heart-felt essays about how the library has changed their life.

The 50-word essay contest's big winner was 16-year-old Ellis Kalomiris, who “loves taking things apart and putting them back together,” according to the library.

“The Library is a place where all ideas are thrown into a blender and come out as one solid piece.  It’s hard to explain, but it’s nice,” Ellis said.
