Patch Passport: Kid-Friendly Fun

Take advantage of time with your kids and get out and enjoy these hot spots. Your Patch Passport gives you options for great local spots for kid-friendly fun.

It’s summertime, and the kids are restless. Take advantage of your time together and take them out for some Kid-Friendly Fun. Check one of these spots in the town to start your summer adventure.

1. Your local playground

There are many playgrounds in the area, including Canterbury Park, Crystal Lake Park and one of the largest, Lippold Park.

Playgrounds are great for the little ones because they have plenty of space for them to run around and burn off some energy. Your kids can even make new friends with other kids who happen to be playing in the same playground.

It is especially great because if you live by one, you do not have to travel far, which is very beneficial since gasoline prices are currently hovering $4 per gallon. You can walk or even take a short bike ride to the nearest one for even another activity you can do with your kids!

Canterbury Park, located by the intersection of Berkshire Dr. and Virginia Road, is nice because it has many baseball fields for a baseball, softball or even kickball game if you want another potential idea for a play-date with many kids. It's also located next to Nick's Pizza & Pub for a midday snack, or dinner after play.

Crystal Lake Park, located by Lake Ave and Country Club Road, is great because it's by the beach if you're looking to cool off from the summer heat.

Lippold Park, located on Route 176, west of the intersection of Route 176 and Route 14/Virginia St., has baseball fields, soccer fields, a playground and even a skatepark and disc golf course.

2. Veteran Acres

This spot is great because the possibilities are endless!

The park has many possibilities because not only does it have a playground, soon to be finished, for the little ones, but there is also a softball field, baseball field, tennis courts, and a pond with a trail that you can explore!

The pond is home to many animals, including fish and turtles, but many birds have been spotted here as well. This is a great idea if you want to do a more relaxed activity.

Also on site are shelters to have a picnic, while taking a break from whatever activity you decide to do here.

Veteran Acres is located just north of the intersection of Route 176 and Walkup Road.
