Upcoming events provided by the Crystal Lake Park District.

There's always something going on at the Crystal Lake Park District. Be sure to register for the programs you're interested in, it's required!

Upcoming programs include:

  • Friday, June 17
    Movie in the Park (Megamind-Rated PG) and Baskin Robbins Ice Cream Eating Contest, Contest begins approximately 30 minutes before movie. Movie at Dusk. Free Admission, Main Beach, 300 Lakeshore Drive, Crystal Lake. Listen to Star 105.5 for the 'Best Seat in the House' Contest.
  • Saturday, June 18
    Kids Dog Show
    , 9-10 a.m., Big Wheel Race, 10:45-11:45 a.m. Main Beach, 300 Lakeshore Drive, Crystal Lake. Registration in advance required, onsite registration will not be accepted. Call (815) 459-0680 for more information.  
  • Tuesday, June 21
    Concert in the Park (Stagecrafters & Park District Dancers) Main Beach, 300 Lakeshore Drive, FREE admission, performance begins at 7 p.m. and last from 60-90 minutes.  If inclement weather, concert will be held at Dole Mansion. Call (815) 459-7275 for inclement weather information.
  • Grand Opening Celebration for Acorn Alley Playground and Splashpad. Tuesday, June 21, 7 to 8 p.m., Acorn Alley at Veteran Acres Park, 431 N. Walkup, Crystal Lake. Free Fun. Join for great giveaways, icy treats, summer music, beach ball and hula hoop fun. Be among the first to try the new playground and splashpad.
  • Friday, June 24
    Kids Night Out
    , 6:30-9 p.m. at Crystal Lake Park District Admin. Building, One East Crystal Lake Avenue. How about a Date Night for mom and dad? Kids will enjoy a fun night of their own making art projects, having pizza and fun with other kids. Registration in advance required.
  • Sunday, June 26
    Wanders at Wingate
    Prairie-FREE, registration in advance required, meet at the Nature Center, 330 N. Main Street, Crystal Lake. 2 to 3 p.m.
  • Tuesday, June 28
    Fun in the Sun at The Nature Center
    - Building forts, playing game, nothing is out of the question for this active, hands-on program. Hands-on activities, games and a hike. Registration in advance required.

Learn to Swim with the Crystal Lake Park District-Red Cross certified Swim Lessons for ages 18 months and older. Pre-Lifeguard and Lifeguard Training for ages 11 and up. Second session begins June 27.

Work on that Golf game at Lippold Park Family Golf Center. Group lessons for specialty skills or general golf skills for all ages, all abilities. 2-18 hole miniature golf courses and driving range available to hone your skills. Second Session of Day Camp Begins June 27! Be sure to register for any of our two-week sessions of the Award Winning Young Explorers Summer Day Camp. Camp includes: field trips, swim lessons, arts & crafts and lots of fun. Ages 5-16.  Punch pass program available!

Register now for Safety Town. Kids ages 5-6 learn safety through the use of a miniature town, songs, poems, art projects, stories and visits from police and fire department officers. Safety Town runs Monday-Thursday, throughout the summer. Next session starts June 27.

Start training now for the Crystal Lake Park District Open Water Swim Race, Saturday, July 9, 7:30 a.m. one-mile or two-mile race. Wetsuits options, swim caps provided. Learn to Geocache with The Nature Center. Geocaching for Families, Saturday, June 25, 10-11:30 a.m., Meet at The Nature Center. Register in advance.

Still time to register for summer tennis lessons and leagues with the Crystal Lake Park District. Available for all ages and ability levels.  Call The Racket Club 847-658-5688.  Membership at The Racket Club is not required to enroll in park district summer lessons and leagues.

Register now for Sports Camps for all ages, abilities and interests. Camps scheduled throughout the summer. Sports include: Basketball, Soccer, Baseball, Soccer, Volleyball, Golf, Flag Football, Rock Climbing, Track and Field, General Fitness Training, Skateboarding, Lacrosse and Boxing.

Dance, Pom, and Cheerleading Classes and Camps. Class participants will have a chance to march in the Independence Day Parade.  Register now-classes begin next week!

Crystal Lake Park District Blast on the Beach, Saturday, August 20, 4 to 9 p.m. Featuring music by Bad Medicine, Children's Entertainment by Ken the Flying Fool, and kids games, treasure hunt in the sand, face painting, beer and food vendors, Bags Tournament and much, much more.
