Local Beaches, Outdoor Pools Opening Soon

The summer season is almost upon us. Find out when area pools and beaches will be re-opening for the summer.

Many area beaches will be re-opening over the Memorial Day weekend for the summer season. 

Among the area hot spots, the popular beach at Three Oaks Recreation area will re-open on May 25 at 10 a.m. The marina and boat rental area at Three Oaks has been opened since early April. The Three Oaks website has more information on the many amenities available at Three Oaks and the parks hours of operation. 

Both of Crystal Lake's beaches, Main Beach at 300 Lake Shore Drive, and West Beach, at 2230 Lake Avenue, will re-open on May 25.

When school is in session, Main Beach will be open from 3 p.m. to dusk and when school is out, the beach will be open from 9 a.m. until dusk. West Beach will only be open on weekends when school is in session and otherwise is open from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

One of the beaches in Lake in the Hills, Butch Hagele Beach, 71 Hilltop, will also open back up for swimming on May 25 and will be open from sunrise to sunset. The beach will have lifeguards on duty starting on June 1 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In Cary, the community pool will also re-open on May 25. There will be an open swim available from 12 to 8 p.m. and an adult lap swim will be open from 11:15 a.m. until noon.  

Lake in the Hills other beach, Indian Trail Beach, 228 Indian Trail, is open year round and will have lifeguards on duty starting on June 1 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The village of Lake in the Hills website has more information on the village's beaches, fishing regulations, boat rentals and beach passes. 

In Algonquin, open swim hours at the Lions-Armstrong Memorial Pool, 599 Longwood Drive, will begin on May 25 from 12 to 6 p.m.
