Investigation Continues in Barrington Soldier's Death in Kosovo

Sgt. Heidi Ruh, 32, was fatally shot in Kosovo in a non-combat area.

An investigation continues into the death of soldier, formerly of Barrington, who was killed on May 9 in a non-combat area of Kosovo, according to the Daily Herald. 

Sgt. Heidi Ruh, 32, was fatally shot and the U.S. Army does not suspect hostile gunfire lead to the shooting and also has not uncovered any evidence of foul play but has not ruled that out as a cause, according to the article. 

Ruh, a mother of two, grew up in Kiel, Wis., but most recently lived in Barrington, according to Fox 6 News in Milwaukee. She served in the Army for 11 years where she repaired surgical machines in medical units, according to WTAQ. 

In 2011 to 2012, she served in Afghanistan and in February volunteered to go to Kosovo, according to her obituary. She received several awards for her time in the Army including the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal and National Defense Service Medal. 

A funeral service with military honors was held Monday for Ruh in Kiel, Wis.
